We'll it's not quite Indian Summer, although the weather sure has been great of late. Fall is here, back to school, autumn leaves and shorter days and longer nights... Change, the one thing that you can really count on ... It's been a nice summer. We had good times at the Duquesne Jazz Band Camp and at the Duquesne Guitar camp. It's always fun to be able to hang out and work with your peers. Especially when they are people like Mike Tomaro, Dr. John Wilson, Joe Dallas, Jimmy Bruno and many more.
Fall is shaping up to be quite busy. I'm back teaching jazz guitar at Pitt and Duquesne and lining up some interesting concerts and jazz dates. On Saturday the 13 of September, I'm doing a concert at the Stifle Fine Arts in Wheeling, WV. My original composition "The Mass of Hope" is getting a lot of renewed attention. Actually, starting on the 20th of this month, we'll be doing the Mass of Hope every month thru next spring. Some of the dates include:
(Both of these concerts are with our good friend and choral conductor Tom Octave) Also on tap are concerts in Butler on 11/25 with the combined high school choirs. The concert will be held at Butler Intermediate H.S. with Choral Director Lynn Crytzer. In December we will performed the Mass at the Carnegie in Carnegie. It will be a "holiday" concert with the performing arts group Stage 62 and our dear friend Thomas Douglas (Bach Choir director) handling the directing duties. Looking ahead to 2009 we are scheduled to do the Mass of Hope in Canfield, Ohio with the Canfield HS chorus. And In March we are working with the Masterworks Concert Chorale. Final details are being worked out at this time. And also in March, we are planning a concert at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, Pa with choral students from the High School.
Stay tuned for more on both of these exciting events and be sure to check the calendar for more info on upcoming dates and concerts.
